Obituary of Madeline Mary Snow
Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on December 17, 2022 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband Arthur Snow, parents Gertrude and Jim Parsley, parents-in-law Amy and William Snow; sister Shirley Sceviour, grandson Jason Dobbin, brothers-in-law Albert, Edgar, Hughlett, and Bob.
Leaving to mourn six children Brian (Brenda), Denise (Paul Humphries), Lisa (Keith Boone), Clyde (Michelle Short), Peter (Luanne), and Mary (Rod Dobbin); her grandchildren whom she adored: Christopher Humphries (Whitney Miller), Michael (Cara), David Humphries, Stephanie (Alex King), Olivia (Josh Burt), Gavin, Hannah and Adam; her treasured great grandchildren Emma, Grace and Brant; her sisters-in-laws Verna (Reg) Lanning and Vera Olah; brother-in-law Jerry; her sister-in-law Marie; and her many special nephews, nieces, and cousins in the Snow, Sceviour, Byrne and Parsley families, especially Anders and Aurora Brent who always brightened her day. Madeline also leaves a large number of relatives and friends, including her friends at The Killick.
In early years, Madeline worked at the Botwood Theatre and Spot Cash and then spent many years working with her parents at the family business, Parsley’s Store which was well known to all in Peter’s Arm and surrounding areas. Through the years Madeline was an active member in the Botwood Lioness Club and the Roman Catholic Church.
Madeline loved family gatherings and enjoyed having the house full with lots of food to go around. A game of cards always brought fun and laughter. She always reminded everyone to take lots of pictures to save the memories which she lovingly placed in albums and reflected on often. Madeline and Art spent many summers camping in the trailer with their six children, along with a convoy of special friends and their families and then later at their cabin at Mill Pond. She loved to spend time with her family and had many happy memories of times together.
The Parsley family in Avondale was always close to Madeline’s heart. She visited often and kept contact with all, especially Helen O’Leary in recent years. In December 2020, she decided to move to The Killick at Lane’s Retirement Living where she enjoyed the bingo, music and social activities.
In Madeline’s memory, flowers gratefully accepted or donations towards the St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund or charity of your choice.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Central Regional Heath Center and especially the staff of Lane’s Retirement Home (The Killick) for their care and kindness during Madeline’s stay.
Please be advised that masks are required for both the visitation and the funeral service.
