Obituary of William Clayton Barrett
On Sunday, December 11, 2022 God called home one of His children, William Clayton Barrett. He was born on March 17, 1948 in North Harbour, Placentia Bay to Evelyn (Reid) Barrett and William Henry Barrett. He is predeceased by his first wife Frances and infant daughter; mother Evelyn and father William, sister Jean, brother-in-laws Cyril Reid, Gerald Parsons and Max Peckford. Forever left with amazing and loving memories are his wife Neta, his children: Joanne (Kirk), Leanne (Dallas), Sheldon (April), Dena (Shawn) and Donna (Ron). Grandchildren: Courtney (Matt), Shannon, Trent (Chloe), Natasha (Mitchell), Codey (Janelle), Joshua (Victoria), David, Emma, Ralph, Adam (Kristina), Chantal (Jeff), Andrew, Deonna (Levi) and Desiree (Zachary). Great grandchildren: Zoe, Lannon, Raelyn, Willow, Nixon, Addison, Jaxson, Ellie, Emily, Gabriella, Ashton, Lucy, Zachary and Lily. His fur baby Sasha. Also leaving to mourn his five sisters Elizabeth, Ethel (Stan), Ruby (Edgar), Viola (Norman), Linda (Frank) and a large circle of relatives and friends.
William was known to his family and friends as Clate. Spent his early working career as a cook for Abitibi and Hibernia before he went to Ontario in 1997 where he worked for Prototier. Clate retired and came back to NL in 2008 when he experienced a health issue. While in Ontario Clate and his wife Neta did a lot of travelling around the Province and a life long dream of his was to travel to Nashville. They followed up with a trip across the beautiful country of Canada.
Clate had a great sense of humor and a quick wit and could hold his own in a conversation. Upon retiring he fulfilled his dream by learning to play the guitar, he loved to sit, play and sing. He had a great love for gospel music and you would find him most nights listening to youtube. His greatest desire was to serve his Lord and Saviour and live a truthful and honest life. Our hearts are broken and though he left us unexpectedly and much too soon. He lived an amazing life and loved his family and was loved deeply by them. A quick call or hug from them or some of the young ones running to get up with him brightened Pops world.
Forever in our hearts.
Visitation will take place at Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls, on Friday 3-4 and 7-9.
