Obituary of Sterling Roy Hannam
It is with great sadness that the family of Sterling Roy Hannam announce his sudden passing on November 19, 2022.
Sterling worked as Manager of the Golden Shell Fishery fish plant since 1992. He was also a member of the Leading Tickles Fire Department for 25 years.
He is predeceased by his father, Donald Hannam, father-in-law Richard Rowsell, grandparents Theodore and Melina Haggett and Elijah and Minnie Hannam, niece Kayla Dawe, and nephews Dustin Fudge and Jonathan Buckley.
He leaves to mourn his wife Vanessa, son Dwayne (Shauna-Lyn) Hannam and daughter Jenelle (Matthew) Burton, mother Joan Hannam, mother-in-law Theresa Rowsell, sisters Brenda Lee (Felix), and Lucretia (Wade) Buckley, brothers Austin (Debbie), Freeman, Larry (Lona), Donald (Marilyn), Craig (Sue Ann), Eugene (Danielle), and Woodrow (Pauline), and his five grandchildren.
Sterling was born to Donald and Joan Hannam on December 23, 1957. A Tibbs baby we normally called him. He married his wife Vanessa (Rowsell) on September 21, 1985. Together they had two beautiful kids, Dwayne and Jenelle. They were the light of his life. He had four grandsons, Mekhi, Luke, Kooper and Denver. One granddaughter, Presley. He loved them to no end. Their pop was their world and they his. Everything he did or worked for was for them or for his next visit. He always made sure they knew how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. His closing words on his regular facetime would be: "Ok my lover, Pop loves ya"
Sterling was quite the character to be around. He was known by many. Always smiling, cracking a joke, just to make someone laugh. Always having a helping hand to anyone who needed it. When Fishermen would come to the plant to offload their catch, he would be their smiling and right ready to have a smart remark for them. The things that popped into his head was so fast. Nobody ever left his presence without a smile of their face.
We wish we had more time but only God knows why. His life was large and well lived. He made an impact on all who knew him. Love you forever.
Rev. Cindy Graham will conduct the funeral service from St. Nicholas Anglican Church in Leading Tickles on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11am. Interment will follow at the United Cemetery in Leading Tickles. Pallbearers are Larry Hannam, Austin Hannam, Donald Hannam, Craig Hannam, Freeman Hannam and Eugene Hannam. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne and Mekhi Hannam.
