Obituary of Rilla Joan Adams

Please share a memory of Rilla to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed peacefully away in the Palliative Care Unit at the Carmelite House, into the presence of the Lord, Rilla Joan Adams (Stryde) in her 84th year, November 2, 2022.

Mom was born to Elsie and Gordon Stryde of Bridgeport, Notre Dame Bay on August 11, 1938.

At a very young age mom left Bridgeport to go to Pilleys Island as a teacher and later she moved to Windsor where she met Les, our dad and the love of her life. They were married in 1958 and enjoyed a full life together for 64 years. Together they raised four children: three daughters and one son. Over the past 64 years they had the pleasure of watching their family grow with the addition of nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Grandma had special stories and song for each and everyone. Mom enjoyed their cabin in Loon Bay and loved time spent out in their boat fishing. Before the cod moratorium mom always wanted just one more fish.

Together they had the pleasure of travelling across Canada and from Florida to Hawaii. She often talked about how lucky they were to have travelled freely before 9-11.

Mom was a faithful member of her church as was involved in WM and was a Sunday school teacher until her health prevented her from doing so. Her devotion to her church never faltered and she was apart of the prayer chain and was always concerned for those on the prayer list and in need of prayer.

She was predeceased by her parents: Elsie and Gordon Stryde; sisters: Ruby, Rose and brother, Don; parents-in-law: Alfreda and William Adams.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories her devoted husband, Les; daughters: Merina (Scott) LeMessurier, Bonnie (Gary) Bowers, Carolyn (Ray) Budden; son, Tony (Lisa); her grandchildren: Adam (Melissa), Luke (Stephanie), Peter and Paul (Jennifer) Budden; Jennifer (Ryan), Jessica (Calen) and Jonathan LeMessurier; Danielle (Nathan) Buffett and Olivia Adams

Pallbearers are son Tony; grandsons: Adam, Luke, Peter and Paul Budden, Jonathan LeMessurier.

Many thanks for prayers and the doctors and staff at the CNLRHC with special thanks to Dr. Sarah Hicks and Dr. Devin Philpott; nurses Tammy and Melissa. There were many more who provided exceptional care to mom and our dad during this time, heartfelt thanks.
