Obituary of Hazel Mina Zaida (Sadie) Clarke
It is with great sadness, the family of Hazel Mina Zaida (Sadie) Clarke announce her passing after a short illness, at the age of 85. Sadie, as she was known to all who loved her, was a loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend.
Sadie was born to Amy and William Clarke, on January 15th, 1937, in Cottrell's Cove where she grew up. She gave her life to Jesus in 1959, under the ministry of Pastor Verna (Bourne) Parsons. She was among the early and founding members of the Cottrell's Cove Pentecostal Church.
As a young adult, she moved to Botwood in 1962, along with her best friend Hazel to work at the Botwood Cottage Hospital. She later worked at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center until she retired in 1992.
Sadie loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, and gardening. When she wasn't outdoors, she loved to cook and watch sports and game shows.
She will be greatly missed and will live on in the memories of her family and friends, and in the lives of the people she touched throughout her life.
Predeceased by parents William and Amy Clarke, sister Madge (Ray) Elson, brother-in-law Harvey Boone, sister Vivian (Hiliary) Parsons, sister Joan Randell, brother Harris (Alfreda Clarke), brother Macmillian Clarke, brother Leslie Clarke and Madeline Budgell.
Left to mourn, her devoted friend Hazel White, sister Olga (Claude) Noseworthy, brother-in-law Roy White, sister-in-law Edna Seabright, sister-in-law Bridget Clarke, brother-in-law Edward Randell, Fred (Hilda) Budgell, and a large circle of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Staff at the Dr. Hugh Twomeny Health Center, for taking such good care of Sadie during her short stay there, and the staff at Hoskins Funeral Home for your kindness and compassion.
For all those who wish to visit the Funeral Home or attend the funeral service, the family would kindly ask that a mask be worn at at each event. Thank You.
