Maisie Pardy Obituary
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 17 th , 2022, Maisie Marie Pardy (nee
Peyton) at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood.
She is predeceased by her parents Samuel and Violet Peyton, brother Ambrose Peyton and her in-laws
Walter and Vivian Pardy and sister-in-law Bonnie.
Maisie was born to the late Samuel and Violet Peyton on September 7 th , 1936 and grew up in Peterview
until their move to Botwood when she was 14 years old. She met the love of her life while working in
the shoe department at Botwood Stores. They later married, and together they raised their daughter
Dianne. In 1971 they moved to Ontario. There she met her best friend Joan Ross and they formed an
unbreakable friendship. She loved her Corp family at The Salvation Army York Temple and Brampton
Citadel. She was a Songster, Corp Cadet Leader and Sunday School Teacher.
After retiring at the age of 55 from Household Finance as a Loans and Mortgage Officer, her and Roy
returned home to Newfoundland to enjoy their retirement.
She was a proud solider at the Salvation Army Botwood Citadel. Maisie volunteered her time in many
areas of the Corp, including the Salvation Army Red Shield, the Christmas Kettle/Hamper Program, and
the 60+ club. She also volunteered her time at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Ladies Auxiliary and the Interfaith
Maisie enjoyed knitting, especially baby clothes and afghans. She was a great cook and baker. She
loved nothing better than a good cup of tea with a sweet.
Maisie loved her family more than words can say. Her granddaughters Emma and Sarah were her world.
They spent their summers travelling around Newfoundland, picking different areas of our province each
year to explore. She never missed a Christmas with her family.
She leaves to mourn her husband Roy of 63 years, daughter Dianne (Bob) Porter, grandchildren Emma
(Brittany), Sarah, sister-in-law Betty Peyton, her nephew Sheldon Peyton and his family, niece Sheryl
Slous and her family, and a large circle of family and friends.
Major Barrows will conduct the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in Botwood, on Saturday
August 20 th , 2022 at 11am. Interment will follow at the Botwood Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will
be Emma Porter, Sarah Porter, Bob Porter, Rob Evans, George Pardy and Owen Peyton.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Jody Woolfrey and the staff of the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood for their care and compassion during mom's time there.
Donations can be made in Maisie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
