Obituary of Larry Walsh
Lawrence (Larry) Walsh, age 75, passed peacefully away on August 1, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his father Lawrence Sr. and brother Sean Walsh, father and mother in-law Leander and Clementine (Clemmie) Hender, brothers in-law Eugene Coles and Cyril Pynn.
Leaving to mourn, and with cherished memories, are his devoted wife of 52 years Frances (Hender) Walsh and his loving sons Kyle and Carl (Geraldine); his precious grandsons Mason and Jaxon and special Poppa Larry to Callie (Jared and Jessica), Tori and Axel (Brent and Meghan).
Also mourning his loss are his mother Julia Walsh, sister Maureen, brothers Chris (Patti), Rick (Kathy) sisters in-law Iris, Betty, Ada (Howard), Lily (Milton), Bev (Cam); brothers in-law Willie and Henry; a large circle of nieces and nephews and special friends Ray Keats, Dave and Crystal LeFresne and all his close friends at the lake who are too many to mention but not too many to ever forget.
Larry was born and raised in Grand Falls-Windsor where he met his wife, raised his family and spent his career at Abitibi Bowater. He spent his early years travelling, had a great interest in all things history and his heart and soul was at the lake where they would eventually make their retirement home. He loved a good story and had many great friends to spin a tale with. He will be sadly missed by many.
Anyone who knew Larry knows that his heart and soul was at Badger Lake and so, carrying out his wishes, he has been cremated and will return to the place he loved most. Also in honouring his wishes, there will be no service at this time but the family will have a celebration of life at the lake at a later date.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and caregivers at A.M. Guy Memorial Hospital in Buchans who made Larry’s final days as comfortable as possible.
Also special thanks to Drs. King, House, Lush; his palliative care nurse Ruth Wells and the entire nursing staff at Central NL Regional Health Care who’s care and compassion since his diagnosis has been second to none.
There are no goodbyes for us, where ever you are, you will always be in our heart. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
