Obituary of Eliza Lillian Fowlow
With great sadness we announce that on July 25th, 2022, at the age of 88, Eliza Fowlow of Buchans, Newfoundland and Labrador passed away at A.M. Guy Memorial Health Center surrounded by her family.
She was predeceased by husband Harry, son Gary, sisters Beatrice and Gladys, brothers Artie, Bruce and Stewart.
Eliza’s greatest love was her family including her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren who called her Mom, Nan and More-Nan.
Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories is her sister Madeline, brother Gordon(Helen), her son Den (Marilyn), daughters Elaine (Barry), Sandra (Kevin) and Sharon (Max): Daughter-in-law Hilda (Casey), Grandchildren: Chad, Brian, Toby, Melissa, Shara, Janine, Gary, Ian, Harry, Frank and Daniel: Great Grandchildren Fiona, Ella, Mara, Sophia, Madeline, Owen, James, Eric, Emily and a large circle of other relatives (especially the Rowsell’s, Cross’s and Coleman’s) and friends.
Eliza was born in Leading Tickles, Notre Dame Bay in 1933. She completed her grade 11 education and taught school the subsequent year. She married Harry in 1951 and moved to Pigeon Inlet, and then to Buchans in 1965. She worked tirelessly for many years at the Fowlow and Sons grocery store while cooking delicious homemade meals every single day for not only her children and their friends, but also the many business associates who quickly became lifelong friends. Sitting around the dining room table whilst sharing a meal and telling stories, accompanied with laughter was undoubtedly her favourite time.
She was a member of the Anglican Church, ACW, and the Tweedsmuir Rebekah Lodge.
Visitation will be held at St. John Devine Church in Buchans on Wednesday, July 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The celebration of life will be held the following day, Thursday, July 28th at 2 pm.
