Obituary of Monty Warford

It is with great sadness that the family of Monty Warford announce his sudden passing on July 16, 2022.

Monty, son of Marjorie and Alex Warford, was born January 8, 1958. He was one of 4 siblings, all boys, and grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor where he met and married the love of his life Marilyn (nee George). They had two sons, Mark (Sandra) and Adam, whom he stood by and supported with quite admiration.

Monty worked as a labourer with Local Union 1208 and modestly mastered many skills. He was often seen with a tool in his hand and worked hard – at his own pace, to ensure it was a job well done.

Although his family and career were priority, music was his true passion. Monty could often be found strumming the guitar around a campfire, crown royal set next to him and a lit cigarette stuck out from the strings. He could carry a tune with the best of ‘em and loved the magic of music.

In recent years Monty became more in touch with his spiritual side and spent many hours with a Bible in his hand. The teachings of the good book were a form of comfort to him and he openly discussed his beliefs with family and close friends.

Today, as we say goodbye to a man who has touched us in so many ways, it is us who now take comfort in believing he is resting well and watching over us.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences and sympathy during this time, however, there will be no public viewing and the family will celebrate his life in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request a donation to the Grand Falls-Windsor SPCA in support of Monty’s attachment to his beloved cats.
