Gerald lived and worked in advocate mine in Baie Verte for 15 years and then worked as a diamond driller all over the island of NL and various places in Canada.

He was a man of few words and had a heart of gold. He loved his family, loved his hometown of Fortune Harbour, loved to smoke his pipe and loved to read. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Anne’s parish. He will be fondly missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank each and every staff member at Hollett’s Retirement home, who went above and beyond our expectations and showed love and respect to Gerry (and his wife, Betty) throughout the 5 years he was there. He was well liked and extremely well taken care of.

Also a special thank you to the staff of Central Health where he resided for 7 months before going to the Carmelite where he resided for the last 5 months. He was welcomed and well cared for each and every day.

We give a special thank you to the Carroll family and brother-in-law, Patrick Shelley, who were always there for him during these last few years, visiting and helping to take care of his needs as well as supporting his family at this time.

Donations in his memory can be made to St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Fortune Harbour.
