I am so sorry to hear of Den's passing. My deepest sympathy to the family. Betty Stack
Carol it’s been a long time since we last connected. I am so very sorry for your loss and send my deepest condolences to you, Steve and Mark. I know you will now cherish the memories of Denny together as a family. He was a good friend to us, as well as a wonderful father, husband and man. Wishing you all the best. Dianne Stanley (Wells)
Carol Steve and Mark and family. So sorry to hear of Dens passing. Den and I go back to the early 70s. We worked together with Household Finance and when Den left Goose Bay I moved there to take over his position. Kinsmen kept us in contact through the years and later we worked together with the Co-operators for many years. Den was always the gentlemen and always so obliging. He operated a successful insurance agency with the the Co-operators and I was so proud to have him as a member of our team. Lots of great memories of trips together. He will be missed. Those who knew him can certainly cherish his memory.
Kevin and Carol Sheppard
Carol & family,

You and the family are remembered in our prayers.

Carol, Steve, Mark, Jolene, and families
Sorry to hear of Den’s passing, we had lots of fun playing ball together, and whatever else came up. He sold me some insurance one time, which I probably didn’t need but he made it sound so great. Even though we didn’t spend much time together in the later years I always thought of him as a friend. RIP my friend
Carol, Steve, Mark and all the family, we are sending our heartfelt condolences on Denny’s passing. We echo the sentiments expressed here about his character, love of family, community service, and we might also add that he was the consummate host to his guests. Carol, I know you will miss him tremendously as will all the family and close friends, but take comfort in the beautiful memories you made together over the past 50 plus years. In time, they will bring a smile to your face and peace in your heart.
Rest In Peace Den - a life very well lived indeed!
Sincerely,
Helen and Gerry
Carol and Family. My heart goes out to you. Having lost Wendell so suddenly in December I feel that I know what grief you are feeling at Dens loose. He had such a beautiful smile all the time and a twinkle in his eye. In Shrine and counterpart love with the deepest of sympathy

Dear Carol & Family,
Carole and I were saddened to learn this morning of Den’s passing. We enjoyed your and Den’s company as our Counterparts going up the ranks in the Northeast Shrine Association. I am sure that he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss.
With love and affection,
Rick and Carole Brousseau
To Carol, Mrs. B, Steve, Mark and the rest of the family, we were devastated to hear that Denny passed away on Sunday.
Our friendship extends back for more than 30 years, during which time we experienced what a genuine person and true friend he was. When we lived in Gander as neighbors, we spent so much time together, which included Masonic functions, Florida vacations, dinners, parties, wine making or just getting together to sample the wine and play a few old tunes on the guitar!
Our hearts have been broken all week and we share in this unexpected grief with you. Although we are unable to attend the funeral today, our thoughts will be there and we want you to know that we will never forget our dear friend, and the great memories we have that will last us our lifetime!
Love from us all,
Bob, Rosie, Wendy, Gregory & Jonathan Hobbs

Carol and family. Charlie and I were so very saddened to hear of Dens passing. He was a beloved man by all. I loved the banter we carried on over our birthdays as we were both April born. But Den, you were older, and only by 11.5 months. So we would chuckle. Carol your time to grieve is now, but then you will all remember, you wonderful times and there were many. Farewell Den, you will be missed by all. Sincerely Charlie and Mary Parsons
My heart goes out to you Carol, Mark, Steve and close family. I will always remember Dennys laugh. He was always so cheerful and welcoming. Many years ago while growing up in Botwood and being cabin neighbours, he would tell me I was the daughter he never had. He sure made me feel special. Wish I could be with you, along with my family, to celebrate such a larger than life man. Please know you are in my thoughts. Hugs to you all.

I was saddened to learn of Denny's passing. From the moment when I met Denny in Gander, I knew he was special. I loved working with him, because he was always so positive and upbeat. He was special, however, he made everyone else feel special. He loved nothing more than talking about his family.. He was so proud. May your many wonderful memories help you through this difficult time and may he rest in peace .
God Bless. Sincerely Jackie Hogan-Boulos
We wish to extend our sympathies to Carol and the Billard family. We first met Denny through the Kinsmen Club; and then again at the Shriner's Oriental Guide seminar in Tampa. We continued to follow him through his decidation to the Mazol Shriners. Denny was a sincere and positive gentleman, and he will be missed by the Shrine organization and his community in general.

Such sad news. While I hadn’t seen Den in recent years I will always remember his warm smile and his positive attitude. Great individual who made others feel happy. Terry Hart
Carol, Steve, Mark, Mom B, Jolene & others who are grieving the loss of our dearest, longtime friend . Don & I are grieving with you. Our hearts are heavy, our hearts are broken. From the time that Don & Denny took to the stage in high school, in a play that made everyone roar because they appeared in long underwear with dirty seats, carrying rifles; to the time that we lived next door to each other in a trailer court ; loading the kids in a car & driving to Port aux Basque & Rose Blanche, just for a family outing.
Fast forward a few years & lots of movement in between, losing contact for a few years, we found each other again, in St John’s, becoming grandparents the same time, our children still close friends, and then our grandchildren becoming friends. The memories are endless and Denny was always up for a challenge. Finally Denny lured Don into the Shriners & that was and still is a great experience. Then we could see that he was becoming in some way, not the same talkative person, unable to express himself, but always rearing to go. This terrible condition called Dementia, eventually took away the “spark” that was there all those years.
He accomplished so much…did so much good for so many people.
As you say goodbye to this great guy, we have to let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to join you. However, with your blessing, we plan on holding our own fond farewell to Denny, at a later date .
Meanwhile, lean on each other, take care of each other and keep your memories alive.
RIP Den..until we meet again..so long friend.
Carol, Steve, Mark, Jolene and Margaret, we are saddened to hear of Den,s passing. You have been in our minds since we heard and you are in our prayers. God bless you all.

I remember when he first came to Botwood, I also remember he was a really good softball pitcher!

He will surely be missed! Sincere condolences to you all, keep your cherished memories close!

I recall when Den arrived in Botwood and instantly became active in the community in many ways. We worked together, sang and played together and shared in many deeply personal discussions over a friendship that lasted over a half century. To Carol and the children, Jolene and his dear mother I share in the sadness of the community as we say farewell to a man who contributed much in his lifetime.

Carol, Steve, Mark, Mom B, Jolene, and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Denny's passing and share in the grief you must be feeling for such a loss. He had a big heart, a kindly disposition, and was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He loved you all dearly and being a good family man was his priority. We fondly remember many years, dinners, dances, excursions, together and especially those at the Masonic Lodge. You were a true friend to Geoff and he loved you like a brother. We are going to have a little dance in the den here now, to one of your favourite dance songs, have a little cry, and celebrate all the cherished memories you have blessed us with. You were one of God's best!

Sorry to hear of Denny's passing. Condolences to all the family. May fond memories keep you comforted.
Mom B, Carol, Jolene, Stephen, Mark, Jacquie, the three little ones, Friends, extended Family, Brethren all, please accept my sincere condolences regarding the recent passing of my Friend and a Brother in the Craft, Brother Den Billard. It was my privilege to propose Den for Membership in Saint John’s Lodge No.1. Working with Den, first at Crosbie Job Insurance Ltd., and than later on, again with him in support of Billard Insurance Agency Ltd., was a pleasure. I can only imagine the struggle and frustrations that you and your Family have endured, watching Den slipping away from us all, over the past almost twelve years. Den certainly packed a lot of living into his 74 years and I was privileged to have known his company. God bless you all and may the soul of the Dearly Departed Rest in Peace, for our Brother has laid down his Working Tools.
Sincerely,
Ted Davis & Family

This was one of Denny’s favorite tunes and whenever we were on the road and it came on the radio, he would crank it up and play the air drums, mostly to drown out the incessant beeping of the seatbelt alarm, I suspect. ;)
