Obituary of John Clyde Lingard
Passed peacefully away on April 18th, 2022 at the age of 85 with his family at his side, John (Jack) Lingard was born and lived life to the fullest in Bishop’s Falls.
He was predeceased by his brother, William; and parents, Annie and Olin Lingard. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 65 years, Lorene (Woolridge); sisters, Grace Williams, and Donna (Ewen) Cornick; children, Ann (Dave) Rideout, Bill (Leslee), Merle (Debbie), Darryl (Yolanda), and Alison (Shawn) Foss; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends.
John was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a dedicated Christian who gave his life to the Lord in 1977. He loved going to church and enjoyed all worship. He had many hobbies and interests but always reserved the most time for his wife Lorene, and family. He was a jack-of-all trades and had a wonderful work ethic. A skilled trapper, excellent hunter, patient fisherman, and avid berry picker, he was truly an outdoor enthusiast and felt closest to God in the great outdoors. With his quiet, carefree spirit, and constant smile he was truly loved and will surely be missed. He had many dear friends and knew almost everyone in Bishop’s Falls. He had a varied career with CN Rail, Lingard’s Restaurant, Newfoundland Hydro, and the Regional Water Supply. After retirement he loved to travel and visit family and friends. On one trip Jack and Lorene took the train across Canada to see the whole country. After a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease he spent his last years at the Carmelite House. The family is very thankful for the wonderful staff that cared for him.
