Obituary of Berlene Hancock

It is with great sadness that the family of Berlene Hancock announce her passing, on April 9,
2022, at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Center. Beryl was 83 years old. Leaving to mourn
with fond and loving memories are: husband Ford; children: Brenda Hancock, Wade Hancock,
Boyd (Jean) Hancock, Robert (Penny) Hancock and Valerie (Roger) Clarke; grandchildren:
Matthew (Brittany), Tyler (Kathryn), Jared (Shyla), Joshua (Victoria), Erin (Daniel), Claire
(Malcolm), Brady (Sydney); and brother and sisters: Jean Manuel, Patsy (Ralph) Paul, Bill
(Ruth) Thompson, Ford (Marg) Thompson. Beryl also leaves to mourn a large circle of relatives
and friends.

She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, William and Fannie Thompson, sisters Shirley
Abbot and Isabelle Martin, brother Stanley Thompson and daughter-in-law Laura Hancock.
Beryl married the love of her life, Ford, on February 25, 1958. As a family they loved to spend
time camping and in outdoor pursuits such as snowmobiling, ice fishing, quading and enjoying a
cook up in the woods. Cabin life was a highlight for the last 29 years. Summers at the lake with
grandkids, family and friends were special.

Life with her church family was important to Beryl. As a devout Christian, she spent much of
her life involved in church activities such as the Home League Secretary for 20 years, a member
of the Songster Brigade and as a Girl Guide Leader.

Beryl also had an impact in the community through 40 years with the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary
and by putting her talents with knitting and needles to work with the Red Cross Society. Her
many years working at the MacDonalds Clothing Store in Botwood, permitted her to meet many
people and build a positive social network.
Beryl’s dedication to family and in creating lasting memories also led her to travel across Canada
and internationally. She enjoyed time on family vacations in Singapore, Hawaii, and the
Caribbean.

The family would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate her life, both those from the
local area and those from away. Special thanks to Dr. Woolfrey for his many years of care.
Thanks also to the caring staff at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Center. Beryl was loved by
her family and her caregivers.
