Obituary of Wylie Arthur Burge

Surrounded by family Wylie Arthur Burge passed peacefully away on March 20, 2022 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, at the age of 87 years. He retired from the Department of Transportation after 33 years of employment. He was predeceased by his parents: John and Winnie Burge; brother Ross Burge; sisters: Gertrude Purchase, Jane Sutherland, Net Kearley, Mable Harris, Amanda Anderson and son-in-law Owen Ball Sr.

Wylie was a loving husband of 64 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He leaves to mourn his wife Florence Burge; son, Shawn (Carol) Burge; daughters: Edna Burge, Joanne Ball (Harry), Wanda (Lee) Hawco and his grandchildren: Melissa, Kristin, Sarah, Matthew, Owen, Jennifer, Brooke, Catherine and one great-grandson Ethan. He also leaves his brothers, Perley Burge, Terry Burge; sisters: Edna Hefferman, Vera Abbot and Isabelle Fillier.

Wylie was a jack of all trades and enjoyed helping others in any way he could. One could say telling his stories was his passion. He was known by many and loved by all and will be truly missed.

Pastor Jeremy Foss will conduct the funeral service on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, Bishop’s Falls. Interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery on Sunset Drive.

Pallbearers are Owen Ball (grandson), Matt Hawco (grandson), Lee Hawco (son-in-law), Dan Sutherland (nephew), Jim Kearley (nephew), Bruce Hoffe (friend).
