It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Lee of Botwood, Newfoundland. He passed away on January 14, 2022 at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor at the age of 79 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Walt was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Tamar (Muriel) Lee. He leaves to mourn his wife Delcie Lee; daughters: Patricia (Jamie) Woolridge and Carla Lee (Courtney wood); sisters: Louise (Albert) Ward and Myrtle (Cyril) Menchenton, grandson Carson Wood as well as other family and friends.
He retired at the age of 58 from Abitibi Price, built his home for his wife and daughters, was a member of the Legion and Botwood Lions Club where he was honored to receive the Melvin Jones Award for his services and outstanding amount of volunteering in the community.
Walt loved being outdoors, in the woods cooking for people, darts, cards, broomball, soccer and pool. He was well known for his jokes, pranks and being heard before he was seen, whether it was his horn honking or his voice booming greetings.
He will greatly missed by family and friends.
Walt did not want a funeral or viewing so we will honor his in the spring with a celebration of life, which will be announced at a later date.
Gone but never forgotten.
