Passed peacefully away on November 6, 2021, Rothnie Clayton Stockley at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood. He was 91 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents Enoch and Elizabeth; brothers Selby, Norman, Freeman; sisters Ethel, Janet, Julie, Onnie and Gertrude. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary; daughters Linda (Frank) O’ Reilly, Jill (Paul) Ruttgaizer; grandchildren Norman (Crystal), Jeffrey (Renee); great grandchildren Deegan (mom-Crystal), Amber, Tristan.
Rothnie married his wife Mary, on June 30, 1959 and together they raised two daughters. He worked at Abitibi Price, and after many years of service, retired in 1988. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cribbage, watching hockey and baseball games and watching the Church services on television on Sundays. His happy place was in the woods and there was always a big fish that got away!! He enjoyed telling stories about hunting, fishing, friends and when he was a ship fellow and sailed down South to Mexico and other places. He loved to joke and carry on and he could be a prankster at times.
Dad was kind to everyone, if anybody needed anything, if he could help them he did. If he only had a $5 bill in his wallet and could help them it was theirs.
During his stay at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center he enjoyed watching birds come to his bird feeder, especially the yellow ones.
Our family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support shown to us during this time. We would also like to thank all the staff at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, but a special thank you to the staff on Unit C who provided many cups of tea and lunches and also went above and beyond for dad.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Therapeutic Recreation Dept. at the DHTHC.
Graveside prayers will be held to say farewell to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend at the Botwood Community Cemetery on Wednesday 3 P.M. Family and friends are welcome to join us. The family asks that social distancing be maintained in accordance to the Covid 19 restrictions.
