Passed peacefully away October 12, 2021, Arthur Gordon Mills at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Mills retired from Coca Cola Bottling and was a member of the Bishop’s Falls town council and the volunteer fire department. Gord enjoyed spending time at the cabin, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He would spend hours painting using a one-inch paint brush in his favourite colours of brown or grey. Gord was a hard-working man who liked to help others. He was a dedicated family man and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Predeceased by his mother Dorothy Mills, father Raymond Mills, mother-in-law Eliza Clench, father-in-law Edward Clench, sister Joan Healey, brothers Fred and Garfield Mills, brothers-in-law Sandy Hancock, Dave Cooke, Bruce Nicolle, sisters-in-law Audrey Hiscock, Verlie Mills, Mary Mills, and his other brother Don Reid. Left to mourn are wife Sharon Mills, daughters Tammy (Steve) Mills, Tina (Paul) Furey and Tracy (Mike) Leonard. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Maryl, Gladys and Roxanne (Darren) as well as brothers Roy (Violet), Andrew (Helen), Bob (Joanne), Ed (Cindy), Paul (Brenda), Dennis (Debbie), Wayne (Paula), Terry (Serena), brother-in-law Oscar (Joyce) Clench, sisters-in-law Lorna (Gordon) Lambert and Linda Clench. Gord also leaves to mourn three grandchildren: Isabella, Noah, Rosie and a large circle of nieces and nephews whom he loved and adored.
Majors Wavey and David Chaulk will conduct funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop’s Falls on Thursday, October 14th, 2021. Interment to be held at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Bishop’s Falls. Pallbearers will be Terry Mills, Ed Mills, Wayne Mills, Paul Mills, Dennis Mills and Paul Furey. Honorary pallbearers were Bob and Roy Mills.
Gord’s family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation and thanks to all the staff at Central Health especially the dialysis unit, ICU and 2A for their care, concern, and support over the years.
Donations in Gordon's memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Following Covid restrictions public visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2:30-5:00. Funeral service on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop's Falls.
Anyone attending the visitation or the funeral service, the families request is that you would be double vaccinated and have no flu like symptoms.
