Obituary of Elizabeth (Bessie) Theresa Murphy

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elizabeth Theresa Murphy, age 72, left us on September 28, 2021 and will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her parents Frances and Thomas Murphy, her sister Elaine, and brother-in-law Philip Barry. Left to mourn is her very large family consisting of her two daughters Katharine (Mary) White (Randy) of Kelowna, BC and Brenda Wilson (Deon) of Centreville, Nova Scotia, her four grandchildren, Christopher, April, Rhya and Jai, and all of her loving siblings, Dave (Betty), Jimmy (Cathy), Mary, Frank (Sheila), Jean (Winston), Yvonne, Sarah (Dave), Tom (Juanita), Edith (Terry), Verna (Maurice), Marion (Vince), Dianne (Glenn), Laurie-Anne, Paul (Lisa), brother-in-law Patrick Lynch and her numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Never a woman of formalities, Elizabeth was best known to everyone as Bessie; and know everyone she did! We always joked with her that she knew everyone in town. Bessie was always up for a good laugh, a great story and a little badness. She was sometimes on the rough and tough side but always there with a soft hand when needed.

Not one for anything extra, Bessie lived a simple life. She raised her two daughters to be strong and independent women, much like herself. Always the social butterfly, Bessie was a part of many groups over the years. She was a long-standing member with TOPS Windsor Division for almost 40 years, numerous local darts clubs, the Fifty Plus club, and local bowling group. Most recently she was thoroughly enjoying her time going on the many fun-filled adventures with her living companions, friends and the compassionate staff of Twin Town Retirement Centre, who helped make her last couple of years so delightful; we thank you for that.

Her daughters would like to also extend a very special thank you to all of her family and friends who have done so much for her over the years whenever she needed something or someone. You were always there for her when we couldn’t be and we will be eternally grateful.

Cremation has taken place and a service celebration of her life will take place in November when her family will be home to gather.

“Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again”                                                                                                                                                                                      -Author Unknown
