Patricia Donna Milley

Obituary of Patricia Donna Milley

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Donna Milley (Quigley) of Grand Falls, born April 29th 1956. She survived her battle with cancer for over three years, defying all odds, until September 28th 2021 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Leonard A. Miller Centre where she was surrounded by her loving family, and in the thoughts and prayers of many others.

Donna was born and raised in Grand Falls, where she met her husband David. Together their love of teaching took them across the province from Roddickton to St. John’s to Charlottetown, Labrador, and across the country to Brochet and Dauphin, Manitoba before they returned to Grand Falls-Windsor to enjoy retirement and spend time with their children and grandchildren. Donna’s kind heart and vibrant humour drew a large circle of friends to her, and she will be remembered fondly by the many people whose lives she touched. 65 years of love given, laughter shared, lessons taught, tears dried, and burdens carried can’t be properly commemorated in such a short medium as an obituary. There’s no amount of words to properly celebrate a life filled with so much kindness and caring.

Left to mourn is her devoted husband of 45 years, David; her children Jonathan (Jessica), Melessa (Phil), Byron, and Breanne; her seven grandchildren Alexa, Kadence, Caleb, Bryce, Gabrielle, Rhys, and Roarke; her siblings William (John), Brian (Leila), Wayne (Sue-Ann), and Judy (Gerry); as well many other loved ones. She is predeceased by her parents Louise and Bill Sullivan.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Health Sciences Centre floor 4 North A as well as the Leonard A. Miller Center Palliative Care Unit for their compassion, professionalism, understanding, and kindness during such a difficult time for the family. They were a great comfort in her last days. Thanks to the staff at the Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre for helping give the family three and a half more years with her.

Special thanks to Katie Dicker, the Aboriginal Patient Navigator for her guidance, assistance and caring. You took a lot of stress out of the last few years.

Following Covid-19 restrictions visitation will take place at Hoskins Funeral Home in Grand Falls - Windsor on Friday, Oct. 1 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Grand Falls - Windsor.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or the Qalipu Cultural Foundation.
