Obituary of Malcolm (John) Suley
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center after a short illness, Malcolm John Suley, at the age of 58. John was predeceased by his parents, John, Sr. and Lorraine. He leaves to mourn his Uncle Lloyd (Blanche); Aunt Margaret (Clyde); Aunt Marie (Bill, deceased); Aunt Bonnie (Rob, deceased); and Aunt Linda (Winston), as well as many cousins and friends.
John was born in Botwood, the only child of John and Lorraine (Reid) Suley. He grew up in Bishop’s Falls in a home where there were lots of visits from family members and friends. Over the years, the home was named “the headquarters” by his Uncle Alwin, Sr., many years ago because of the number of family members visiting the home throughout the years, especially during Christmas.
John was a quiet and sincere person who you could always turn to if you needed anything fixed or even invented. He was gifted with an analytical mind and was especially skilled when it came to finding answers to problems on a computer and understanding written instructions that did not make sense to anyone else. Helping others was never too much trouble for him.He thoroughly enjoyed photography, and could be often seen taking photos and videos of the great outdoors, including birds on his property over the Exploits River. He loved to be out in the garage with his Dad while his Mom was in the house preparing a meal for them. One of his favourite pastimes was listening to country and gospel music, especially Waylon Jennings.
You will be sadly missed by a large circle of family and friends, especially by your Uncle Lloyd, who was very thankful to have been there for you throughout your life.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the Emergency and ICU doctors and nurses of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre and those at St. Clare’s Hospital and the Health Science Centre for their care and professionalism while John was in their care.
A special and heartfelt thank you to Chad Faulkner, classmate, friend and caretaker to John, along with caretakers, Ruth Campbell and Marie Faulkner.
