Obituary of Ethel Noftall

Passed peacefully away on August 4, 2021 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre in Botwood, Ethel Noftall, at the age of 99 years. Ethel was a a Warbride, and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12 in Grand Falls-Windsor. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon James Noftall; son, Barry Noftall and daughter-in-law, Linda Noftall; two sisters, Ivy and Hhilda; and 7 brothers, Jim, Robert, Tom, Henry, Johnny, Joe, and William. She leaves to mourn her sons, Allan (Patricia) Noftall, and Paul (Beverly) Noftall; daughters, Margaret Ivany, Brenda (Edward) Budgell, and Glennis Noftall; 12 grandchildren: Kyle, Beth Ann, Blair, Lynette, Jennifer, Pamela, Jason, Dana, Kerry Lynn, Suzanne, Eddy and Shelley, 12 great-grandchildren, special niece, Irene Bagnall Turpin; as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. 

Rev. Kim Waite will conduct the funeral service on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 from Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor at 2pm. Interment will follow at the United Cemetery on Union Street in Grand Falls-Windsor. 

Donations can be made in Ethels memory to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Ethel was born in Upton, England and moved to Grand Falls in 1946 with her husband Gordon who served in the Royal British Navy. She was welcomed by her new family and made many friends and was especially close with all the other war brides in the community. She was loved by all who knew her. In the words of her favorite singer, Vera Lynn, "Until We Meet Again".

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff and workers at Hope Valley and the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre for the phenomenal care Ethel received while being a resident there.
