Obituary of Sylvia Louise Locke
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts and I am helped.” Psalm 28:7
On June 17th, our dear mother, sister, nan and friend, Sylvia Locke (Rowe) passed peacefully away at the Carmelite House Palliative Care Unit, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL at the age of 74. Our deepest loss is truly Heaven’s gain.
Predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Stella Rowe, sister, Doris Rowe and niece, Tammy Hutchings. Left to mourn are her son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie and daughter, April. Her four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Daniel, Britany, Evan and Aliyah. Brothers and sisters: Evelyn Davis (Everett), Irma Rowsell (Dave), Roy Rowe (Linda), Harvey Rowe (Phyllis), Allen Rowe ( Linda), Marilyn Hill (Pratt) and Nina Jefferies (Jack).
Sylvia endured a 34 year journey with Parkinson’s Disease but lived with strength and determination until the end. Her life was built on faith, perseverance, and compassion. She loved deeply and taught us to love selflessly. Even through the pain and debilitating realities of Parkinson’s, she lived without complaint. Her life is truly an inspiration to all who knew her. Though our loss is great, we celebrate her life with peace in our hearts and hope of tomorrow. She was and will always be a very special lady, loved by so many.
Sincere thanks to the staff and residents of Twin Town Manor for providing her a safe and happy home over the past two years. As well, sincerest appreciation to Sylvia’s sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Jack, who have been truly gracious to take on the role of her caregivers. Their incredible love and selfless kindness was and is deeply appreciated. Donations can be made to a charity of ones choice.
