Obituary of Joyce Frances Burt

Joyce Frances was born on Feb. 8 1931 to Baxter and Suzanna Mercer of Bishop’s Falls. She moved to Corner Brook and married Reginald Burt, where they shared 50 years of marriage before his passing.

Joyce was a devoted mother and homemaker, she loved to entertain, prepare food for people and was very active in her local church where she touched the lives of many through teaching Sunday school and her involvement in Women’s Ministries.

Joyce was an inspiration to all who knew her. A North Star to her immediate and extended family. She never failed to lead by quiet, humble example. Known for her wide, welcoming smile everyone in her orbit was elevated and entertained by her positivity and wry sense of humour.

A woman of diverse interests, her return to Grand Falls-Windsor in 2016 as a resident of the Golden Years Estates, she developed a renewed vigour and zest for life. A late comer to technology she embraced social media in particular, keeping in contact with friends and family on a daily basis was a consistent routine.

A voracious reader, she also loved to knit, crochet, do crossroad puzzles, sudoku, bowling and was the skip and scrabble champion. From her youth to her last day, a mere suggestion of an excursion was enough to have per prepared and ready to go with alarming speed.

Joyce was the light of so many lives and gave with all her heart. She loved fiercely, completely and unconditionally and will remain in our hearts forever.

Joyce Frances Burt (nee Mercer) passed peacefully away on March 29, 2021 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 90 years of age.
