Obituary of Violet Estelle Mews
Violet Estelle Mews 74, born January 22, 1947 to the late Eric and Majorie Diamond Botwood, Newfoundland, Canada, died February 15, 2021 in Grand Falls/Windsor, Newfoundland as a result of her long and courageous struggle with Multiple Sclerious. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church where she used her musical talents to play the organ and piano for church services until she couldn't do so any more. She attended the Botwood Seventh-day Adventist church school for one year, completed 7 years in the Botwood United Church Elementary School and completed the 11th grade at the Botwood Collegiate High School.
In August 24, 1968 she married Gerald Mews.
Violet is predeceased by her parents Eric and Majorie Diamond, brother Reginald neice Brenda Baggs. Many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Gerald, one son Brian, three brothers, Mac(Ethel) of Clarenville, Newfoundland, Calvin(Margaret) of Paradise, Newfoundland and Dolph(Jane) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, USA and her many Nephews, Neices, Cousins and friends.
Violet was a valiant person with an unshakeable faith. She loved people and even though she suffered greatly she showed concern for others. Before she became disabled with MS she and her husband Gerald showed hospitality to friends and strangers alike. There are many people all over Canada and the USA who have sat at her table and /or stayed at her home.
The Family would like to thank the Medical Staff at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre and the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre. Her many relatives and friends who helped and encouraged her over the years. A special thank you to her current homecare workers Bonnie Ivany, Ginilda Newhook, Gail Mercer, Roxanne Greeham and other previous workers for their kind, compassionate care.
