Obituary of Ronald James Power

Ronald James Power passed peacefully away at his home surrounded by his family on October 7, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 74 years. He retired from Irving Oil after over 30 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed doing what he loved to do, baking at Tim Horton's. 

Ron was born in Grand Falls at the Lady Northcliffe Hospital on January 20, 1946. He attended The Salvation Army school in his younger years. In 1966 he married Doris Warford and was married for 54 years. They had two sons and one daughter whom he loved dearly. Also in his retirement he enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Eileen Power (nee Smith); parents-in-law: Reginald and Georgina Warford (nee Curlew); brothers: Albert Power and David Power.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Doris Power (nee Warford) of 54 years; sons: Ronald, Paul (Sherrie Corbin); daughter, Kimberly (Glen) Power also five grandchildren: Ashley Lopez, Jermey Lopez, Christopher Bouzane, Belle Power, Cara Power and Connor Power and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Lopez. Also left to mourn his sisters: Florence (Gerry) Pole, Vera (Owen) Warford; brothers: Patrick (Malou) Power, Arthur (Alice Boone) Power, Clancey (Donna) Power and a circle of other relatives and friends.

Majors Larry and Judy Goudie will conduct the funeral service at The Salvation Army Park Street Citadel, Grand Falls-Windsor on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by invitation only following Covid restrictions. Interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Caribou Road. Urnbearers will be his two sons Paul and Ronnie.

Family will graciously accept flowers in his memory or donations to the Janeway Hospital Foundation.
