Obituary of Josephine Anne Zeeuwen

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the sudden passing of Jose on Friday July 24, 2020, at the age of 72.

Jose shared many loving memories with her children Hilary and Kyle (Nicky). Predeceased by her parents Pearce and Margaret Antle. Survived by the father of her children, Dick Zeeuwen. Loving sister to Mary O’Reilly (Patrick deceased, second husband Bill deceased), Marjorie Carey (Charles deceased), Madeline Maloney (Jim deceased), Helen Gill (Earl deceased), Joan Crann (Roger), Pat Antle (Marg deceased), Will Antle (Joan) and Kevin Antle (Glenda).

Jose was born in 1948 in Bishop’s Falls Newfoundland. Her sense of wander pulled her away from home at 18. Throughout her life she lived in Cornerbrook, NL, Churchill Falls, NL, Montreal, QC, Red Deer and Calgary, AB and Snyder, Texas. She had a vibrant career in banking and financial services, and owned and operated a women’s and children’s consignment clothing store while she lived in Calgary.

Jose’s zest for life brought her on many adventures all over the world; her children accompanied her to many destinations including Australia, Costa Rica and Cuba. She lived a life full of love and compassion, and acted as an anchor to many of the people in her life. Jose remembered to fully enjoy the simple things in life, from the call of the loon to the smell of wild roses, she embraced every moment. Some of her favourite times were spent tending to her sister Mary’s garden. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Her kind spirit, passion for music and dancing, and sense of adventure will live on in both of her children.

Sending so much gratitude to first responders and hospital staff at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre and the St. John’s Health Sciences Centre.

A family visitation will be held at Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please direct any memorial donations to your local food bank.
