Passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020 at his residence in Grand Falls-Windsor, George Stanley Sweeney, after a courageous four month battle with cancer. George was just 66 years of age. He retired from the Central Newfoundland Health Centre in 2009 after 36 years of service. George was known around the community as one of the best phlebotomists.
He was predecased by his parents, George and Madeline Sweeney; sister-in-law, Mary Budgell; brothers-in-law, John G. Budgell and Andre M. Walsh. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Sharon; step-sons, Christopher Lannon (Rachael), David Lannon (Stephaine) of Oakfield, NS; son, Jason of Grand Falls-Windsor; and daughter, Chiara (Adam) of Botwood. Also leaving to mourn his sister, Danielle of Lethbridge, AB, brother, Randy (Debbie) of Lethbridge, AB; his grandchildren, Alexandria, Ian, Levi, Archer, Dreyden, Ryder, Logan, Draper and Hayley; his niece, Sarah; nephews, Garrett (Kayla), Brad (Heather), and John T. Budgell (Jamie); two great nieces, Evelyn and Ayra; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 45 Earle Street, Grand Falls-Windsor on Wednesday, July 29th from 2-4.
The Sweeney family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation for the kindness and support of Dr. Richard Lush, the Cancer Clinic, the Palliative Care team, and their friends and family shown to them during this diffiuclt time.
