Obituary of Ira Darin Budgell

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Ira Darin Budgell passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the age of 53 at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center on June 29th, 2020.  He was predeceased by his father, Titus Budgell; sister, Connie Budgell; grandparents, Clarence & Mae Budgell and Clarence & Pearl Clarke; aunts, Beulah Budgell and Doreen Hancock; uncle, Gilbert Clarke. He leaves to mourn his mother, Doris Budgell; brother, Shawn (Mary); sisters, Christine (Morray) and Sharon (Michael); nieces: Melissa (Jeremy), Chantel (Randy), Carissa (Shawn), Chelsie (Brady); nephew, Ethan; great-niece, Alyssa; Aunt Margaret Earle and a great circle of relatives and friends.

Ira grew up in Moore’s Cove with his parents, brother, and two sisters. At a young age, Ira moved to Ontario for work where he resided for 24 years. His wish was to someday move back home to the place he loved, which he was able to do 7 years ago. He was a member of LIUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America) for 20 years.

Ira was a happy-go-lucky person who enjoyed living life to the fullest.  He loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas time. He enjoyed the great outdoors, such as when it came to trips to “Uncle’s” (his nickname for Jeremy) cabin, rides out in boat, a good cook-up in the woods, and sitting around the fire sharing his hearty laugh with family.

Ira was a caring person with a big heart.  Anyone who ever received a card from him will say how thoughtful and meaningful it was as he always picked out the perfect one. He was the kindest soul who cherished his nieces and nephew and loved them dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls.  Due to COVID-19, this will be a private family visitation and service.  Donations in his memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
