Shirley was born and raised in Bishop’s Falls and married Ernest Budgell and together they raised two children: Florence and Kenneth. She volunteered in several community groups and loved her work with the drama club. A stay-at-home mom, she played, loved, entertained and adored her two children until they grew to teens, at which time she went to work at Central Newfoundland Hospital. Shirley loved her job and worked 27 years to retirement. She worked with young people and was quite active in her church. Even after retirement she lived a busy, active life and bubbled with energy, very young at heart. Ernest passed away in 1994 and she met and married another wonderful man, Donald Saunders five years later. He brought his five grown up children into her life, Dianne, Fred, Judy, Harry and Ron. She loved and respected them as her own. She enjoyed life and travelled often but kept God as a vital part of her life. She had a liking for music, was very crafty and made many, many friends throughout her life-time. Wherever she went she touched lives and was loved by all. Always positive, happy, the true example of a Christian woman. She will be missed by all especially her children and grandchildren. Her one desire in her old age was to GO HOME! There is no doubt among all who knew her that today she is GONE HOME!
