Obituary of Frederick Hugh Pardy

Frederick Hugh Pardy passed peacefully away at Health Science Centre in St. John’s on January 8, 2019, after a brief illness and with his daughters by his side. He was 78 years of age.

Fred retired from Pollett’s Electrical, Grand Falls-Windsor, in 2016.

Predeceased by parents Reuben and Agnes Pardy; brothers Edwin, Chesley, Clayton, George, and James; sisters Effie Kelly, Sadie George, and Annie Burke; and son-in-law Andrew Alexander. Left to mourn are wife Helen Pardy, daughters Cheryl (Andre) Hudson, Heather Alexander, and Kimberly Pardy (Jeffrey Norton). Also left to mourn are his sister Eileen Hancock, special friends Rob and Jackie LeDrew and their children Emily and Evan, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Fred was a devoted husband, father, friend, and community leader.

He loved sports, particularly hockey, a sport in which he was a player, teammate, coach, builder, and leader. He excelled and was respected at all levels from minor hockey to old timers. Above all, he was cherished for his coaching, mentoring, volunteering, and devotion to the hockey community.

Fred had his own unique brand of volunteerism and charity. He donated his time to several community organizations. However, it was the many instances of assistance, financial and otherwise, often anonymously, that were the mark of the man. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

The family would like to thank the staff at Central Health and Eastern Health for their excellent care and support during his brief illness.

Flowers gratefully accepted. Donations may be made to the Exploits Valley SPCA or a charity of one’s choice.

Reverend Kim Waite of the United Church will conduct the service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop’s Falls on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

Visitation will take place at Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls on

Friday, January 11th from 2-4 and 7-9.
