Obituary of Lily Randell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Lily Randell, on December 4, 2018 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 74 years of age.  She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Flora Randell; brothers Timothy, Thomas, Samuel; sister Marjorie; sister-in-law Velma, brother-in-law Fred as well as her partner Ron.  She leaves to mourn her son Darren (Connie); daughters Millie, Tracy (Randy); her grandchildren who meant the world to her Jacob, Miranda, Cassidy, Ethan; sisters Rose Drover, Violet (Junior) Toope; brothers Albert (Joan), Robert (Carol), George, Norman (Carol-Ann); sister-in-law Evelyn and a circle of other relatives and friends. Majors Rex and Darlene Colbourne will conduct the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel, Botwood on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 1 P.M. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers will be her brothers George and Norman Randell, nephews Rob, Joe, Jason Randell and Jeff Thompson.

Lily was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who spent her time making memories with her children, grandchildren and family.  She was always there to share in special occasions attending hockey games, concerts and any events they were involved in.

Lily was a strong independent woman who raised her three children on her own and enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren, who she cherished.  She was a hard worker and dedicated employee who enjoyed working up until her illness at Foodland in Gander where she loved helping her customers and making them laugh.

Anyone who knew Lily fell in love with her infectious smile and generous spirit.  There was always a place at her table for one more and all were welcome in her home.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors who cared for Lily on the 4N Unit at the Health Sciences Centre as well as the Palliative Care Staff at JPMRHC, Gander.

Thanks to Major Rex and Darlene Colbourne for their comfort and support and for conducting the funeral service.  Thanks also, to the Botwood Salvation Army Corps for the reception following the funeral and to Hoskins Funeral Home for the funeral arrangements.

We also want to extend heartfelt thanks to our family, friends and coworkers who supported us in so many ways throughout this difficult time.  Please forgive us if we have missed anyone, your kindness will never be forgotten.

Donations in Lily's memory can be made to the Salvation Army Corps in Gander or the Central Northeast Health Foundation for Palliative Care.
