Obituary of Michael Cooke

Passed peacefully away in the presence of his wife, Evelyn and family, on April 30, 2018, Michael Angus Cooke at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Grand Falls- Windsor.  He was 75 years of age. 

Angus was born on January 1, 1943 to Florence (Ivany) and Edward Cooke at East Tickle, NL.  On December 12, 1963 he married the love of his life, Evelyn Haggett.  They moved to Fortune Harbour in 1964 where they raised five boys and four girls.  Angus worked in the lumber woods for a number of years as a camp cook.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Angus dearly enjoyed being in the presence of family and friends, especially grand kids, whether they were his or someone else, he loved them all.  He was considered to be the best dad and grandad this side of Heaven, but is now the best dad and granddad in Heaven.

He was predeceased by his parents Florence and Edward Cooke; sisters Josephine, Mary Catherine, Cecelia, Theresa; brothers Alexander, Leo, Edmund; children Edward and Tony.  He leaves to mourn his wife Evelyn; sons Shawn (Gloria), Bernard (Tina), Angus Jr. (Robyn), Brian; daughters Madonna (Frazer), Linda (Roy), Kathleen (Wayne), Patricia (Robert); sisters Mary (Harold) Hennifent, Sister Margaret Mary Cooke; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends.  Father Eugene Morris will conduct the funeral service from the St. Anne’s Parish, Fortune Harbour, Saturday May 5, 2018 at 2 P.M.  Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic cemetery, Fortune Harbour.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood.  Pallbearers were Shawn Cooke, Bernard Cooke, Angus Cooke Jr., Madonna Stuckless, Wayne Lambert, Christopher Stuckless.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Cooke Jr., Dustin Lambert and Amanda Crann.
