Betty Anne House

The Gift that God has given us, we now give back to him.

Betty Anne House passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 13th, 2023, after a lengthy illness.  She was 55 years of age.

She was predeceased by her mother Mary (Besso) House.

Left to mourn are her father Charlie House of Stephenville Crossing, sister Helena Crant (Gene) of Grand Falls-Windsor and brother Rob (Lucy) of Terrace, BC.

Also leaving to mourn are her beloved nephews Stephen Crant (Samantha) and Adam Crant and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Betty was a graduate of Assumption Central High School in Stephenville Crossing, Memorial University and the Marine Institute in St. John’s.  She worked in the aquacuture industry in Easport, Bay D’Espoir and spent 20 years working for the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Association in Letang, NB as the Science and Technology Co-ordinator.

Betty called beautiful St. Andrew’s, NB home for those 20 years and cherished her many beautiful co-workers, extended Newfoundland family and dear friends who surrounded here there.

She was loved and celebrated by her work family who bestowed upon her the Atlantic Canada Aquaculturist of the Year award in 2021.

While dealing with cancer for four and a half years, it certainly did not define Betty’s life.  She did move back to Newfoundland in 2020 but continued to work from home.  She lived with her sister (Helena) and brother-in-law (Gene) and enjoyed extra family time and of course relaxing at the lake.

We will remember her love of animals and birds, her beautiful photographs, her grace and courage, and that light up the room smile.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff from Eastern and Central Health cancer care teams, our local cancer clinic, ER, and palliative care teams. You are all very special people and your work is invaluable.

Heartfelt thanks as well to friends and family for the prayers, well wishes and support during this difficult time. There are always angles among us.
