It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, William Cornelius Pitcher on July 31, 2022 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. He was 86 years of age. He will be remembered with fond memories and his willingness to give of his time and resources to those less fortunate.
He is predeceased by his wife, Millicent; his parents, Harold and Violet Pitcher; brothers, Cecil, Roy, Terry, and Bruce; sister, Meretta Sheppard. He leaves to mourn with lasting memories his sons, Raymond (Irene), Ivan (Venice), and Bill (Valda). As well as his grandchildren, Chantal (Jason) Jewer, Matthew Pitcher, Mark (Lynh) Pitcher, Nathan (Katie) Pitcher, Sabrina Pitcher, Kristina (Adam) Hancock, Johnathan Pitcher, Tara (Jeremy) Foss, and Jared (Emily) Pitcher; great-grandchildren, Catherine, Caleb, Sophia, Addison, Jaxson, Emma, and Abby. Also left to mourn his sister Georgina (Burt) Raymond; brothers, Harold (Ruth) Pitcher, John (Valetta) Pitcher, and Ross (Ruby) Pitcher; along with a large circle of other relatives and friends.
William was born on October 16, 1935 in Grand Falls. He married the love of his life, MIllicent, who changed his life completely. They spent 67 wonderful years together and he depended on her for everything.
In his early years, he worked as a paper maker with the pulp and paper mill, A&D Company in Grand Falls-Windsor. He became an ordained Minister with the PAONL and pastored at a number of churches in the province. Later, he became an evangelist traveling throughout the province. After retirement, he spent his time visiting and ministering to the sick and shut-in of Grand Falls-Windsor.
Pastor Derick Sharron will conduct the funeral service from Windsor Pentecostal Church on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 2pm. Interment will follow at the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew, Mark, Nathan, Johnathan, Jared Pitcher and nephew Paul Pitcher.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
