It is with saddness the family of Guy Leonard Matchim announce his sudden passing at his home in Bishop's Falls on November 17, 2020. He was 82 years of age. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Etta Matchim, mother of his children Joan Doyle, second wife Marie Nelson and sister Lola Clarke. Left to mourn are his sons Paul (Heather) Matchim, Shawn (Lorraine Budgell) Matchim, Jamie Matchim; daughters Michelle (Don) Kelligrew, Tracy Farr; step-daughters Krista (Mark Wright) Nelson, Michelle (Allan) Nelson-Boos; loving companion Ruby Freake and her family. Also leaving to mourn sisters June (Boyd) Glover, Lorraine (Cliff) Matchim, Jocelyn (Cliff) Bartlett and brothers Roy (Faye) Matchim; brother-in-law Harvey Clarke; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a circle of other relatives and friends. Guy grew up in Sandy Cove, moved to Bishop's Falls to attend vocational school where he received his certification the plumbing course. He went to work at Dawe's Mechanical to work as a plumber until illness forced him to retire. Guy enjoy the great outdoors, riding his ATV, going to the cabin with family and friends, looked forward to the moose hunting trips and a day on the water cod fishing.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2 - 4 for family and friends following the COVID regulations. The funeral service will be private. Interment will be at the United Pentecostal Cemetery, Bishop's Falls on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
