Obituary of Maxwell Sheppard

Maxwell Sheppard passed peacefully away, after battling cancer for 14 years, at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Center, Botwood.  He was 69 years of age.  Mr. Sheppard retired from his work with the Town of Botwood.

Max was a lover of the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting and anything that would bring him in the woods with his “boys” and his boat. Max loved and was loved by everyone around him.  He had a personality that attracted many people. You could ask any of his family, friends, or the guys he worked with, that Max had a wonderful sense of humor that made him the life of the party.  He was known to tell “many a joke”.

Max was also a strong family man.  He loved his wife June, his four girls, his grandchildren and all of his extended family.  They were his life!

 He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Susie Sheppard; brother Jim Sheppard; sister-in-law Isabel Sheppard; brother Rick Sheppard; sister Shirley Freeman.  He leaves to mourn his wife June Sheppard; daughters Darlene (Dean) Rice, Dana (Scott) Sceviour, Amanda Sheppard (Jason Furlong), Laurie Sheppard (Kevin Kelly); sister Pansy (Grover) McTavish; brother Claude (Carolyn) Sheppard; twin sister Maxine (Leroy) Hynes; sister Blanche (Randy) Pardy; brother Randy (Nancy) Sheppard; grandchildren Ashley Sceviour, Alex Hemeon, Christian Hemeon, Chelsey Sceviour, Ethan Rice and a circle of other relatives and friends.  Lana Maclean will conduct the funeral service from the Trinity United Church, Botwood, on Monday, August 14, 2017.  Interment to follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood.  Pallbearers will be Scott Sceviour, Dean Rice, Jason Furlong, Kevin Kelly, Christian Hemeon (grandson) and Ethan Rice (grandson). Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers Claude and Randy Sheppard.
