Obituary of Lloyd Dove

Passed away on August 9th, 2017 after a lengthy illness, Lloyd Dove, at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 83 years of age. Lloyd was born in Chance Harbour, New World Island on October 16, 1933 to William and Louisa Dove. He married Gladys Keeping of Boat Harbour, Placentia Bay on August 30th, 1962 and together they had three children, Denise, Christine, and Kevin. He provided well for his family, and they never wanted for anything. He worked hard all his life in lumber camps as a Logger and a Cook, 28 years with the Department of Transportation and Communication as a Truck Driver and Snow Plow Operator. He enjoyed hunting and being out on the water fishing. He also loved gardening and going for a walk; they called him The Walking Newfoundlander. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Louisa; brothers, Ralph, Moody and Aubrey; and sister, Doris. He leaves to mourn his wife, Gladys; son, Kevin (Madeline); and daughters, Denise (William), Christine (Darren), and Cassie (Ford). Also left to mourn are sisters, Edna, and Margaret; and brother, Winston; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Kim Waite will conduct the funeral service from the United Church in Bishop's Falls on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2pm. Interment will follow the service at the United Cemetery in Bishop's Falls. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home in Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers are Kevin Dove, Winston Dove, Wayne Dove, Edmund Wheeler, Malcolm Young and Lee Boyd.
